Pantothenic Acid (B5)

vitamin Unit: mg

Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is the precursor to coenzyme A (CoA), which is indispensable for fatty acid synthesis and oxidation, the citric acid cycle, and the biosynthesis of cholesterol, steroid hormones, and acetylcholine. Because pantothenic acid is present in virtually all foods, dietary deficiency is extremely rare. The adequate intake for adults is 5 mg per day.
